Unripe or Slightly Green Papaya: Leave it at room temperature away from direct sunlight. It will ripen naturally within 5 to 7 days. You'll know it's ready when the skin turns mostly yellow and the fruit gives slightly when you press it gently.

Ripe Whole Papaya: Once fully ripe, move it to the refrigerator in a breathable bag or loosely wrapped. It will stay fresh for another 5 to 7 days.

Cut Papaya: Store in an airtight container in the fridge and consume within 3 to 5 days for best taste and freshness.

What to Avoid: Do not refrigerate unripe papaya as it stops the ripening process completely. Keep away from moisture and avoid stacking other heavy fruits or vegetables on top of it.

1. Papaya Salad

Crunchy, tangy, spicy and fresh. A salad that actually excites you.

What you need:

2 cups papaya, peeled and grated or julienned

Juice of 1 lime

A small handful of roasted peanuts

1 green chilli, finely chopped

Fresh coriander leaves

A pinch of salt and a tiny pinch of sugar

How to make it: Toss the grated raw papaya with lime juice, green chilli, salt, and sugar. Mix well and let it sit for 5 minutes so the flavours come together. Top with roasted peanuts and fresh coriander just before serving. Light, refreshing, and genuinely addictive. Works beautifully as a side dish or a standalone afternoon snack.

2. Papaya Smoothie

Two minutes, three ingredients, and a glass full of goodness.

What you need:

1 cup ripe myHarvest Farms papaya, cubed

Half cup thick curd or yogurt

1 teaspoon honey

A pinch of cardamom powder (optional but lovely)

A few ice cubes

How to make it: Blend everything together until completely smooth. Pour into a glass and drink immediately. The natural sweetness of ripe papaya means you barely need the honey at all. Creamy, tropical, and genuinely nourishing – this is the kind of breakfast or mid morning drink that sets the tone for the whole day. Add a banana if you want it more filling.

3. Papaya Halwa

A lesser known but absolutely delicious traditional sweet that deserves more attention.

What you need:

2 cups ripe papaya, grated or mashed

3 tablespoons ghee

Half cup jaggery, grated

Quarter teaspoon cardamom powder

A small handful of cashews and raisins

How to make it: Heat ghee in a heavy pan and lightly fry the cashews and raisins until golden. Set aside. In the same pan add the grated papaya and cook on medium flame stirring continuously until the moisture evaporates and the papaya turns slightly dry. Add the jaggery and keep stirring until it melts completely and blends into the papaya. Cook until the mixture comes together and starts leaving the sides of the pan. Add cardamom powder and the fried cashews and raisins. Serve warm. Rich, naturally sweet, and made entirely with real ingredients – this halwa is comfort food at its most wholesome. 😊
